Enjoy a week of trail-running, mountain-biking — or both — in the heart of the Austrian Alps.
If you’re a mountain biker or trail runner, Austria Adventure Week will be paradise. You’ll be based in the heart of the Austrian Alps surrounded by a 500-mile system of backcountry trails from challenging single track to more sedate trails, with routes from 2 to 50 miles. The scenery is stunning with views to snow-topped mountains, farms, villages, waterfalls and valleys.
You’ll also experience the best of Austrian hospitality, history and culture. And, with all the running or cycling, you’ll be able to have your guilt-free fill of legendary Austrian cuisine.
Guided Runs and Rides
Whether you prefer two feet or two wheels, professional guides will lead you through a network of breathtaking trails, many not shown on any official map. Half- and full-day guided runs and rides will offer dramatic vistas and quiet trails and single track. Programs will be offered for various skill levels from leisurely, panoramic tours to challenging high-mountain circuits with thrilling downhill trails. Of course, you can ride or run daily on your own from your door into the valley and mountains.
During your first evening, you’ll meet your guides and other group members at a special welcome dinner. The next morning, the local guides will provide an orientation and review the trail choices, region and week’s program. And then head for the mountains!
For the next six days, enjoy your choice of running or riding—or just relaxing.
Excursions and Activities
You’ll also have optional activities such as hikes, road rides on rural bike routes and excursions to scenic and cultural attractions. Depending on interest, you’ll have the opportunity for whitewater rafting, via ferrata, ropes courses and other, more “extreme” activities. There’s also a “partner program” for spouses or partners who prefer a less active vacation.
At week’s end, you’ll enjoy a day of exploration in Salzburg, one of the world’s cultural capitals.
